動物が大好きな大学生メイベルは、科学者たちが発明した人間の意識を動物ロボットに“転送”させる装置を使い、ビーバー型のロボットに“ホップ(意識転送)”した。動物たちと交流したメイベルは喜びを爆発させるが、シビアな自然の掟を目の当たりにする。メイベルは戸惑いながらも、ビーバーの王をはじめとする動物たちと仲間になり、動物界のルールを学んでいく。そんな彼女の目的は、森を壊そうとする人間に立ち向かうことだった。そんなある日、動物の王たちが集まる動物大評議会が招集される。人間が森を侵略しようとしていることに激怒した評議会メンバーは、市長を始末する過激な計画を企てる。
